New Rob Zombie, Oren Peli Movie ‘The Lords of Salem’ – Yup, Witches!

The Lords of SalemFinally the man who brought us the Firefly Family is putting out a feature film without the stigma of “remake” surrounding it. News broke last night that Rob Zombie’s next project will be The Lords of Salem. He’s planning to write the script while on the road (Zombie is currently kicking off his Halloween Hootenanny tour with Alice Cooper and the Murderdolls). The premise makes us New Englanders happy that Zombie is throwing recognition on his Massachusetts roots. According to the official press release, the film is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches. (more…)

Rob Zombie Setlist And Review – Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Tour

Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe 2 TourLast night, SCARS had the ass-kicking intelligence to head up to Boston’s House of Blues for the Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Tour, headlined by Rob Zombie and supported by Necromantix and (”straight from Halloween 2!”) Captain Clegg & the Night Creatures.

This was probably the fifth or sixth time I’ve seen Zombie, and can say (honestly, without fangirl blinders) that this is the best he’s sounded in a long time, and John 5 and Piggy D were also totally stellar. Having the billy bands on as openers seemed a smart move to me, because it made RZ sound even heavier by comparison and brought a different sort of energy, unlike when he’s brought out lesser metal bands as openers.
