Marilyn Manson Covers “You’re So Vain” With Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson, Revolver Golden GodsIt was just about a month ago that Marilyn Manson surprised audiences at the Revolver Golden Gods by having Johnny Depp play guitar on stage. (I almost wrote “Marilyn Manson shocked audiences” but felt that sentence had no place in the common world anymore.) Random occurrence? Nope. Johnny Depp plays guitar on a track for Manson’s new album “Born Villain,” out next week.

Listen to the collaboration — a cover of “You’re So Vain” — after the jump, as well as watch video from the Manson/Depp show appearance. Video includes Manson calling Depp his “personal savior” and encouraging the crowd to acknowledge how cool their friendship is. One actual cool note about this whole thing is that the free Damien Echols of West Memphis 3 notoriety introduced Manson on stage that night.

Remember when Tim Burton announced Alice in Wonderland, and a lot of people were like, “Why’s everyone dipping into Alice in Wonderland territory, hasn’t Manson had this idea to make it for years?” (Unfortunately, not as many people as who actually went to go see Tim Burton’s stupid version.) Well, based off Manson’s official 2004 announcement to make Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll – which was actually never made – a 2006 promo was shot to help with financing.
