Last night, SCARS had the ass-kicking intelligence to head up to Boston’s House of Blues for the Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Tour, headlined by Rob Zombie and supported by Necromantix and (”straight from Halloween 2!”) Captain Clegg & the Night Creatures.

This was probably the fifth or sixth time I’ve seen Zombie, and can say (honestly, without fangirl blinders) that this is the best he’s sounded in a long time, and John 5 and Piggy D were also totally stellar. Having the billy bands on as openers seemed a smart move to me, because it made RZ sound even heavier by comparison and brought a different sort of energy, unlike when he’s brought out lesser metal bands as openers.
