It was about 4 years ago that I met Steve Villeneuve & Hugo Bissonet at Mike Watt & Amy Lynn Best’s Genghis Con. They were representing their company, Digger Films, and asked me if I would be interested in doing an interview for a documentary that would be known as Under the Scares.
Being that I was a ball of rage after an incident at a certain shitty convention, I vented my spleen about a lot of stuff that goes on in this business. That was 2005. I ran into Steve & Hugo at Monster Mania, Cinema Wasteland & other venues. They were working hard & logging thousands of miles to make this documentary a reality. This weekend all of their efforts came to the big screen in NYC. (more…)

Sometimes the best laid plans of mice and rats go sour. Originally I was supposed to drive up with someone and meet up with others at The Cinema Wasteland Convention. These plans went to shit about two weeks before the show. Everyone canceled on me, leaving me in a bad situation and pissed off. (more…)

I was given this twisted little gem by one of the stars, Greg fuller, who is a friend and is part of the Cinema Wasteland Family. It deals with a woman, Amy, who lives a life of total abuse at the hands of her husband (Greg).
After meeting with a lover, she is found out and brutally beaten by her husband. On top of the physical abuse, he verbally rapes her as well. Julia Johnson, as Amy, sucks it up but you just know she is on the edge and ready to go off it. (more…)

It was a Saturday night in ‘73. Dull night at the bar, so a couple of us figured to check out a movie. The Empire had these two “spaghetti” westerns running. Wrath of God had a poster with Robert Mitchum dressed as a priest firing a Tommy Gun. Kill Them All had Chuck Conners on the poster surrounded by six ugly killers. We were hooked.
Kill Them all and Come Back Alone (1968) was directed by Enzo G Castelari. It was sort of a reverse Magnificent Seven with each killer having a specialty: knife, dynamite, brute strength, fast guns, etc. Castelari made a similar, but more violent film, Payment in Blood, (aka Seven Winchesters for a Massacre) in ‘67. Connors and six others set to pull a gold heist for Captain Lynch (Frank Wolff) of the Confederate Army. (more…)

Deep Throat and The Devil In Miss Jones were the two films that that thrust porn into mainstream America. They were called Porno Chic. A lot of books have been written about that era and Deep Throat in particular. But there has never been a book like this.
Georgina Spelvin wasn’t your typical porn actress. She was a little older than most and had done only one film, High Priestess of Sexual Witchcraft, before applying for the catering job on The Devil in Miss Jones. After reading a few lines with the actor, who was to play the Devil’s front man, Gerard Damiano asked her if she would take the role of the lead character, Justine Jones.

Back in 1972, two films changed the course of adult entertainment. These films made porn “acceptable” to mainstream America. While both films are considered classics, one stood out from the other in terms of production values, storyline and an incredible performance by the lead actress. That actress was unknown at the time and had no idea what an impact this film would have.
She went on to do more films and is a true legend in the buisness. Her book, The Devil Made Me Do It , is one of the best things that I have ever read. (more…)

It was the summer of ‘72, a hot night on the “Deuce.” Time to grab a bottle or two of Bali Hai and find a nice, air conditioned theater to drink it in. The Rialto was showing these two films, so I figured I’d duck in there to get out of this miserable heat. A double bill of animals on the rampage: rabbits and rattlesnakes. How could you go wrong? Now here is a show that I heard a lot of good things about, but had never attended. I had pitched a project to Sid Haig and we had decided to try and do it at Rock and Shock. Sid had me be his assistant for the weekend as no matter where Sid appears, his line is never ending.
It only took us three hours to get there and we met Sid at the hotel, then went to the convention center to set up for the weekend. Sid was right next to his Rejects co-star, Bill Moseley, so you can just imagine how insane it was to be between these two legends. (more…)
