Old Woman Grows Demon Horns

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Someone please cast this woman. A perfect example of when real life surpasses crap in movies.  The 101 year-old Zhang Ruifang of Linlou, China started growing the 6 centimeter horn out of her f’n head last year, and now has another one on the way. Doctors hypothesize her horn as a tumor. But who knows… maybe the other villagers are right to call her “unicorn lady” or “devil woman.” She could be either, in disguise. Read story at au.

In this case, earth-shattering news breaks tonight that a team of international scientists have found malaria in King Tut’s system, throwing a twist in the long-believed theory that the 19 year-old Egyptian king was murdered. ‘Of Dolls And Murder’ Documentary: How Barbie Kickstarted Forensics

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Of Dolls And Murder - StillWe’re all familiar with TV’s version of crime scene forensics. Zombie Soldier - Art by Anderpeich (http://anderpeich.deviantart.com/)The mad scientists at DARPA (the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency, part of the Department of Defense) have been watching one too many movies. Or maybe not enough, or they would realize the Planet Terror like implications their latest project could have. According to Wired, DARPA is currently searching for a solution to the biggest cause of death in our battle fields – loss of blood before help can arrive. Their solution, in short? To develop an injection carried by soldiers, which will put them into a state of hibernation, thereby slowing down their odds of bleeding to death on the field. (Picture like the elixir downed by Juliet.) (more…)

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Lil' Jason Voorhees - Image by Astrozerk04 (http://astrozerk04.deviantart.com/)MailOnline reported today about Sara Foss, a 39 year-old maniac who has dedicated her life to having children until she finally bares a set of twins or triplets. She’s now expecting her 14th child.

Making Foss’s infatuation with twins even stranger, is the glimpse into her psyche we get by looking at the names of her children: the majority of which are named after horror, fantasy, and Sci-fi movies. Who are we at SCARS – who love horror enough to dedicate our time to magazine-making and blogging – to judge someone’s fandom? Hypocrites? Fine. But check out these names. (more…)
