It was a Saturday night in ‘73. Dull night at the bar, so a couple of us figured to check out a movie. The Empire had these two “spaghetti” westerns running. Wrath of God had a poster with Robert Mitchum dressed as a priest firing a Tommy Gun. Kill Them All had Chuck Conners on the poster surrounded by six ugly killers. We were hooked.
Kill Them all and Come Back Alone (1968) was directed by Enzo G Castelari. It was sort of a reverse Magnificent Seven with each killer having a specialty: knife, dynamite, brute strength, fast guns, etc. Castelari made a similar, but more violent film, Payment in Blood, (aka Seven Winchesters for a Massacre) in ‘67. Connors and six others set to pull a gold heist for Captain Lynch (Frank Wolff) of the Confederate Army. (more…)
