This Tuesday, KISS released their first single since 2009’s Sonic Boom and I have to say — I was really not looking forward to it. I have been a KISS fan since I was about 8 years old (that was a long time ago). The last really good music I’d heard from KISS was ‘97’s Carnival of Souls and when I heard Hell or Hallelujah was being released this week, I just wanted to die. I was hoping KISS would just ride the concert train and fade into oblivion, without making the rest of us suffer through new music. And then I heard it.
It was a KISS song. A real honest to GOD KISS song. Not a bunch of aging guys trying to fulfill an obligation to a record company, but a song that had all the energy of something they penned in 1976. I am now honestly looking forward to the release of Monster this coming October.
Paul Stanley took the helm this time and is producing an album, judging by this single, that could be their best since Creatures Of The Night.
The single is available on iTunes for $1.29 (still too much for a digital track with no tangibility). I do recommend it though. Highly. Old School KISS fans are gonna dig the shit out of this tune and I got my shovel.
