Amidst summer blockbuster season, here’s a few indie trailers (two of them out tomorrow) that may have fallen off your radar.
Check out trailers for The Hairy Hands, The Outback and Radiant.
The Hairy Hands (Carrion Films)
Currently doing the film fest circuit, this is one of the rare trailers where, for me, the style doesn’t seem to be the only thing going for it (a way to hide something lacking in plot, or suspense, etc.) It actually seems like a neat synergy of style and mood and creepiness. Check it out.
The Outback (aka Prey, July 13, Xenon Pictures)
At first step the premise (and potentially the soundtrack that kicks in during the second half of the trailer) seem sorta bogus, but the impetus of the “real events” that caused this movie to garner a second look. Here’s the synopsis, and the trailer:
“The Outback: It’s Australian for Fear” is inspired by the disappearance in the late 80’s of a North American couple who disappeared in the West Australian desert on a 4WD holiday. They were never seen alive again. Their abandoned vehicles and totally unused supplies were found in sand dunes near an Aboriginal sacred site–less than an hour away from the closest town. Two years later, the two men were both found dead of natural causes, on the same day, 1000 miles apart back in North America. Twenty years after the original incident, TOP CAT FILMS commences production of the story of 3 couples who set out into the same desert and unluckily end up in the same area, at the same time of year, with disastrous results. The previously unrevealed psychological and sexual liaisons the couple’s had secretly shared come to light as their lives end one-by-one. Who will survive?
Radiant (July 13, DVD/VOD, Mystic Pictures)
Something about this quiet burn trailer is so interesting to me, that I’m linking you over to it, even though it’s found on an external site. Yes, flee ScarsMagazine.com to check it out on SiloSymphony.com.
