I’m that guy who makes everyone rush to the theatre to make sure we don’t miss the previews, so I think I have mini orgasms when I open my email and find a good trailer waiting in there. This one, from Revolver Entertainment, looks like a little Australian gem directed by Brett Anstey. Don’t be set back by the title of this post – I mean this in a good way. The imagery and camera work seems to scream Sam Raimi, and let’s hope this film will pick up where the first Evil Dead left off in the creativity department!
During a violent thunderstorm, a family is awoken by piercing shrieks which summon the dead to rise again. Their lives explode in a blood soaked fury as they battle malevolent spirits, whilst fighting to save their souls from eternal torment with… the Banshee.

Actually that looks pretty entertaining. Although I get more of the Peter Jackson vibe than the Sam Raimi vibe. But aren’t those just two sides of the same coin, really?
And when the Banshee flies by in the background around the one minute mark I laughed really loud.
That was the Sam Raimi poking you. Go watch Evil Dead 1 and the crappy sequel/remake Evil Dead 2.
