Review: ‘Living Dead’, a short film by Brad Case

livingdeadI was given this twisted little gem by one of the stars, Greg fuller, who is a friend and is part of the Cinema Wasteland Family. It deals with a woman, Amy, who lives a life of total abuse at the hands of her husband (Greg).

After meeting with a lover, she is found out and brutally beaten by her husband. On top of the physical abuse, he verbally rapes her as well. Julia Johnson, as Amy, sucks it up but you just know she is on the edge and ready to go off it.

When her hubby least expects it, she gets her bloody revenge in a cringe inducing scene. Standing alone over the dead body, she mutters “I’m a monster, I’m the Living Dead.” This is a tense 20 minutes that made me think that if this could be fleshed out a bit, it could be made into a feature. The ground work has been laid, the characters are strong & believable, and I’m wondering where it could go from here. You may want to check out a copy at www.bloodgutsproductions.com. I saw the trailer to this. Looks like a disturbing, yet attention-seducing, interesting piece of cinematic gold.

Will definitely have to check if/when I get a chance sometime.
