Long Lost Grindhouse ‘Gone With The Pope’ Gets Final Edit

Gone With The Pope“We’re snatchin’ the Pope.” In 1975, cameras rolled on Gone With The Pope, starring Duke Mitchell. But when Duke died, so did any chances of completing the B-movie follow up to Massacre Mafia Style. Now, thirty five years later, film editor Bob Murawski (an editor who’s creds include Drag Me To Hell) has put the final touches on the uncompleted movie, and it’s getting its night in the spotlight on March 12, at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood.

Types of exploitation we get in this two minute trailer:

  • Religiousploitation
  • Blaxploitation
  • Fatty-whorsploitation
  • So much more

Check it out, NSFW.

/film got the scoop. According to their press release, editor Murawski calls Gone with the Pope, “the (movie) I am most proud of” and “a 15-year labor of love.” Probably worth noting here another one of Murawski’s edited films includes the Oscar-nominated Hurt Locker.
