An article in the Daily Telegraph today revealed details from the making of The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone’s action epic featuring Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and pretty much everyone else you can think of. And according to the article, the stunts were as brutal as you might expect from a bunch of old guys determined on one-upping each other.

The 63-year-old [Sylvester Stallone] told FHM magazine: “Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other’s ass, one guy tougher than the next. No joke, our stunt guys were begging for mercy. Actually, my fight with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I’m not joking. I haven’t told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck.”
