With James Gunn taking this fall and winter to work on his new movie Super, an opening has been left for who will join on for Vh1’s second series of Scream Queens as host. With Gunn’s recommendation, we’ve got our new hosts: Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams), with Jamie King filling Shawnee Smith’s spot.
We’ve also got confirmation on one of the Scream Queens prizes – a starring role in SAW 3D. Read Tim’s reaction and hopes for this season!
TIM SULLIVAN TO DIRECT AND JUDGE SCREAM QUEENS 2:
Okay, I can finally say it!
YES, I have been tapped by VH-1 and Lionsgate to follow in the footsteps of my pal James Gunn and serve as “celebrity” director and judge for Season 2 of SCREAM QUEENS.
I am humbled and thrilled to be a part of the show, and am deeply grateful to James for recommending me to producers Joke Fincioen and Biagio Messina after bowing out to direct his new flick “SUPER”.
I must say I was really looking forward to taking a much needed break after completing post-production on 2001 MANIACS:FIELD OF SCREAMS, but when the call came, there was no way I could say no.
I never missed an episode of SCREAM QUEENS Season 1. Finally, a reality show for horror geeks like me. At first, it was Gunn’s presence which enticed me to tune in, but it wasn’t long before I was 100% hooked. As a director, I really dug watching the process unfold. And I gotta be honest- I never thought someone as talented as first season winner Tanedra Howard would come out of “reality TV”.
Lucky man that I am, I’ve got the amazing Jamie King as my co-star. Loved her in MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D. Speaking of which, a starring role in SAW 3D is what awaits this year’s winner.
So far, it’s been nothing but a blast working with Joke and Biagio and the writers coming up with all kinds of sick challenges for the ten contestants. They have NO IDEA what’s in store for them. Time to separate those who really are serious about the craft from those who just want to be “famous”.
More than likely, I will be bringing along some cast members from 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS as guest stars or celebrity judges . As SCREAM QUEENS 2 airs this summer on VH 1, it’s looking like a late summer/early fall release for the film, so folks are just gonna have to wait a little bit longer. But I promise, the way it’s turned out, it’s gonna be well worth it..
We start shooting this Sunday— talk about no rest for the wicked. Just last week I was doing ADR for MANIACS- now it’s off to that Scream Queen House on Haunted Hill.
