Now here is a show that I heard a lot of good things about, but had never attended. I had pitched a project to Sid Haig and we had decided to try and do it at Rock and Shock. Sid had me be his assistant for the weekend as no matter where Sid appears, his line is never ending.
It only took us three hours to get there and we met Sid at the hotel, then went to the convention center to set up for the weekend. Sid was right next to his Rejects co-star, Bill Moseley, so you can just imagine how insane it was to be between these two legends.
This show had to be the most professionally run show that I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending. Gina, the promoter, and her staff made sure the guests were well taken care of. Her security were aces and were visible without the bully boy mentality that seems to infest certain other conventions.
In addition to Sid and Bill, many other stars attended. Gunnar Hansen, Tom Savini, Malcom McDowel, Corbin Bersen, Tom Savini, PJ Soles, Joe Knetter, John Landis and others. I was reunited with Tiffany Shepis, who I hadn’t seen in 5 years and Jack Ketchum, who I lost touch with when I left NYC.
Rock & Shock has bands at night right across from the convention center at the Palladium. The Misfits, Type O Negative, Insane Clown Posse, and others performed though out the weekend. Even though I wasn’t there officially as 42P, a lot of fans came up and told me it was cool to see me. I met some great people from the New England area that I had chatted with on the internet.
The guests were all
happy to be at this show and were well taken care of by a very attentive staff. It was a real pleasure to work with Sid for the weekend. You will never meet a man more gracious than Sid toward his fans. If Sid saw that a fan was nervous, he got up and hugged that fan. He never charged anyone to take a picture with him, a refreshing change from the more mercenary celebs that I have run into over the years. Sid really appreciates his fans and goes that extra mile for them. Sid’s line was none stop all weekend and is a testament to how loved he is by the horror fans.
We had to put our little project on hold as there just wasn’t enough time to do it as there was just too much happening.
If you live in the New England area, or even out of the area, I urge all the fans to go to the next show. Many thanks to Gina , Kevin and her staff for a great weekend. Also thanks to Dave & Cathy for throwing one hell of a party. Hopefully I’ll be back at the next show as a guest or a vendor. Thanks to all the great fans that I met over the weekend. You guys rock and I hope to be back. Don’t miss the next show!!!

If I wasn’t so Brain Dead from all the weeks shinanigans and remembered Pete was going to be there I would have hit one of the days!
Stupid life always gets in the way.
There really was a very chill vibe there. “DRAMA FREE” and “HORROR CON” in the same sentence! Honestly!
