It looks like Fall Down Dead will make it to theaters after all, this December. Directed by Jon Keyes, Fall Down Dead follows the struggle of Christie (Dominique Swain) against The Picasso Killer (Udo Kier (!)), who mutilates victims for art’s sake. After Christie discovers the serial killer’s identity, she becomes trapped inside a building with a bumbling security guard (David Carradine (!!)), two detectives, and a few Christmas Eve stragglers – all now at the mercy of The Picasso Killer.
If Kier as a serial killer sounds promising, Keyes tells us we have reason to be excited, calling the movie, “part slasher film and part psychological thriller. The movie takes place during a city wide blackout so we were able to play a lot with shadows to create a tense atmosphere and really ramp up the suspense. I think we have a great mixture of tension and terror… and Udo Kier is just downright creepy as The Picasso Killer. I think horror fans are going to love what Udo does with the role.”
Fall Down Dead also marks one of the last times we’ll see the Carradine on the big screen in a horror movie. (Notably among his post-mortem releases will be 2010’s Eldorado, starring Carradine, Daryl Hannah, Brigitte Nielson, Jeff Fahey, Michael Madsen, Bill Moseley, and tons of other cult stars.)
While no specific date has been set yet, fans can track the movie at their official MySpace. But Keyes is psyched that the Christmas Eve set movie will also get a holiday release date, noting it “will be a fun and scary alternative to the other holiday movies.”
Check out the images and trailer below. As a die-hard supporter of holiday, psycho movies (okay, I really liked P2), and coupled with the Kier-Carradine element, this should be something to watch out for.
