Next week is the release of District 9. It’s produced by Peter Jackson, but just who is this director, first timer Neill Blomkamp? We’re sharing with you, courtesy of WSJ, Blomkamp’s short film Alive In Joburg. It’s the short that got Blomkamp noticed by Peter Jackson, and is the start of District 9.
Their history doesn’t end there. Peter Jackson also tried to produce a movie based on the video game Halo, with Neil Blomkamp directing. The movie fell apart when Universal and Twentieth Century Fox pulled out. Below is a live, short-action Halo teaser, produced by WETA and directed by Blomkamp for Microsoft.
